Pop Culture Classroom is a dynamic educational nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting literacy, learning, and character development through the use of popular culture in the classroom setting. By leveraging the universal appeal of comics, games, movies, and other pop culture phenomena, Pop Culture Classroom creates innovative educational programs and resources that engage students of all ages.

Pop Culture Classroom will be at the conference teaching participants how to engage with the popculture world around us and transform it into educational programs across our classrooms! Join us as we welcome the amazing team from Pop Culture Classroom to the Geek Therapeutics Family! And check out the website and the cool stuff they are doing! https://popcultureclassroom.org/

What They Do:

  1. Educational Programs: Pop Culture Classroom designs and implements a variety of educational programs that make learning exciting and relevant. These include workshops, after-school programs, and summer camps that use pop culture to teach subjects like literature, history, and science.
  2. Comics and Graphic Novels: Through their Comics Education Outreach initiative, they provide resources and training to educators on how to use comics and graphic novels as powerful teaching tools. These materials help improve literacy and foster a love for reading.
  3. Classroom Resources: They develop curriculum guides, lesson plans, and other educational resources that integrate pop culture into traditional subjects. These resources are designed to be both fun and educational, making learning more accessible and engaging for students.
  4. Events and Conventions: Pop Culture Classroom organizes events such as Denver Pop Culture Con, which bring together fans, creators, and educators. These events provide a platform for promoting literacy, creativity, and community through the celebration of pop culture.
  5. Community Outreach: The organization is committed to making a positive impact in the community by offering free and low-cost educational opportunities to underserved populations. Their outreach programs aim to inspire and empower individuals through the power of pop culture.

By harnessing the excitement of pop culture, Pop Culture Classroom makes learning fun and impactful, encouraging students to explore their interests, develop critical thinking skills, and grow as individuals.

And we cannot wait to learn more this summer at GeekED at TCU July 26-27, 2024
